So as teams exit the Euro's it seems the rumor mill starts to build momentum. Most of the rumors regarding Liverpool are centered around Martin Skrtel and Alberto Aquilani.
There is no doubting Skrtel was Liverpool's best player last season but it is important to remember that when Daniel Agger got injured Skrtels' form deteriorated. At 27, it is usual for players to try to get one last big pay-day before their value diminishes. If it is the case that the likes of Man City and Anzhi of Russia are keen to acquire Skrtel then to this Scribe it is very likely Liverpool will accept a substantial offer.

Aquilani is a different case completely. A player who when signed by Liverpool in 2009 was not only injured at the time but had in fact had a litany of injuries. If to pay 17 million for an injury-prone player to replace Xabi Alonso seemed excessive then to give him a five year contract bordered on insanity. It now seems no Italian club wishes to do a deal for a player who is desperate to return to Italy. A.C Milan ensured Aquilani never reached the 25 game quota that would have activated the clause in his loan deal from Liverpool ensuring Milan had tho buy Aquilani. This has left both Aquilani and Liverpool in limbo. It is unlikely Liverpool will pay out the remainder of his contract. Likewise, Aquilani will not walk away from £80,000 a week wages.

In a couple of weeks the gossip columns will move into overdrive as the new season edges ever closer. But in the case of the above two mentioned players it is likely their future at Liverpool will become a little clearer.
