Dirk Kuyt 's decision to leave Liverpool is hardly a surprise but there is still a hollow feeling that he wont wear the Red jersey again. A player who is probably anti-thesis of what Dutch football is about in the sense that he lacks the technical skills required to ever be considered a world beater.
However, when it comes to attitude and giving your all to become the best you can be then Dirk Kuyt is a terrific role model for young aspiring footballers. I wish Dirk all the best
Well, Dirk Kuyt may lack the technical skills to be at par with say, Robin Van Persie or Arjen Robben, but I still believe he is one of the most valuable players in Liverpool last season. His lack of playing time hinders his effectiveness as a playmaker/scorer and it affected the overall performance of the whole team. I still remember when Xabi Alonso left Liverpool in 2009, it resulted in Liverpool slipping out of the top 4 in the Premier League. Dirk's departure may not be as big an impact as Xabi's, but he's a lost nonetheless. I just hope the organization will find a better replacement and some good signings in the summer. That's the only way to fight your place in the top tier of the English Premiership, and that's the only place Liverpool should be at. Just my thought.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the above "mytwocentworth" but I don't think it will have the same effect as Alonso for which I believe Liverpool have never recovered. Kuyt embodies everything you would want in a player in terms of attitude. An absolute never-say-die approach which I only hope will be replaced with a top quality player.
DeleteIn fairness to Kuyt himself he and his wife seemed overwhelmed by the response from fans since he announced his departure to Turkey. It is vital the new manager builds a spirit within the squad that mirrors that of the flying dutchman.
Hopefully one day he will get to play at Anfield again were there can be no doubt he will receive a rapturous reception.
Good Luck Dirk Kuyt!!
